Sale to benefit United Hospice of Rockland and Rockland Family Center

Join us from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 8 for a special evening at Maria Luisa Boutique.

Local jewelry designer Fatima Mariam Shabbir will unveil her latest beaded-jewelry creations.

Shabbir has been designing jewelry (along with many other works) for more than 20 years. What began as an inventive way to have the things she wanted or needed developed into an outlet for her creativity that continues to evolve.

She tells us that her inspiration comes from many sources, often based on her appreciation of color.

"Colors are something so beautiful and amazing in our lives, and I am always impressed with the fact that no matter how difficult or saddened life gets, I have always been able to take that second to admire the emerald green of a mallard's head, the beauty of a flower and the vivid cobalt blue of our sky on a clear day," she says. "These are a few of the simple beauties of our world and from these and many others I draw my inspiration."

You're sure to find something both beautiful and inspirational in her work.

Shabbir has a passion for child and family advocacy, as well as speaking up for those who cannot, leading her to support organizations such as the Rockland Family Shelter and United Hospice of Rockland. In her honor, both of these local nonprofit organizations will benefit from this special evening.

Shop and save 10 percent on your purchase, and an additional 10 percent will go towards the organization of your choice, either the Rockland Family Shelter or United Hospice of Rockland.

The evening will also include refreshments.

A donation of $20 is requested at the door.

Hope to see you there.
