All
of us here at Maria Luisa – including Maria Luisa Whittingham herself – love
music.
You
might catch us humming (or bopping) along to the great tunes we play in our
shops.
That
love of music – along with a continued commitment to the community – is what
has Maria Luisa Boutique once again serving as one of the sponsors of two
annual summer music series in the village:
* The annual Mostly Music concert series
presented by Friends of the Nyacks.
On Tuesdays during the summer, from 7:30 p.m., Memorial Park hosts these free concerts. The music is varied, from funk to folk to jazz and rock. (The park is at the foot of Depew, at the Hudson River).

This
year’s schedule series continues with:
Aug. 4: Mr. Gone, featuring Peter
Fallon and Neil Alexander playing early ’70s jazz fusion.
Aug. 11: The Crusty Gentlemen,
offering “big barn-burning bluegrass.”
Bring
a blanket, pack some dinner or snacks – and enjoy.
And
yes, you can dance along if you’re so inspired.
We,
of course, have been known to do just that.
* The
annual Music in the Garden at The Hopper House series.
The
back garden of the Edward Hopper House, at 82 N. Broadway, is again hosting its
annual series of jazz evenings, from 7:30 to 9:30 Thursdays.
The
schedule continues with:
Aug. 13: Ben Kono Group.
Again,
bring a blanket or lawn chair. Refreshments will be available for purchase
prior to the concerts and during intermission. A $5 donation is recommended and
helps support the preservation of the house and grounds.
Cool
jazz, hot nights… what’s not to love?
