YOU SAY SUMMER, WE SAY SALE PART TWO

As you read last week, our SUMMER SALE at Maria Luisa Boutique and ML by Maria Luisa is already under way.
Last time, we showcased our fashions and footwear, along with some summer-ready accessories. And while those lovely selections remain on sale, we’d like to point your attention to some other items, namely our trove of home goods and gift ideas.
We’ve got cookbooks and pillows, glassware and bowls, cutting boards and plant misters. There are candles and diffusers in intoxicating scents plus indulgent pampering products from soaps to lotions to scents. There are quirky signs and beach blankets, clocks and dish towels, canisters and floor mats.
The selection is ideal for sprucing up your own home for you or an upcoming gathering, for having an indulgent afternoon, for serving as a unique host/hostess gifts and for all those summer birthdays.
We’d love to help you pick out something… perhaps something you didn’t even know you needed but suddenly realize you just have to have.
Isn’t retail therapy a great alternative to sweating out the summer humidity? We think so.
And the best part, the SUMMER SALE discounts remain at 10% to 60% plus off – not to mention our ongoing summer raffle.

Hope to see you soon!

WDF… THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

This is it. Today is the final day to register online for the Women's Distance Festival taking place this coming Saturday, July 14. Online registration closes at 11:59 pm Eastern time.

----> REGISTER HERE <----

-----> DONATE HERE  <-----
We are $313.00 away from our fundraising goal.

Maria Luisa
As you likely know, this Saturday, July 14, a ML Faves for Good team will again be participating in the Women’s Distance Festival.
The 31st annual edition of this fun – and more important, fundraising – event will be held Saturday morning at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers. The event raises both funds for and awareness of the important work of the Center for Safety & Change, the New City-headquartered organization formerly known as the Rockland Family Shelter.
We thank you for all your help in spreading the word about the event – and a special thanks to those who are already signed up to join us, as well as everyone who has donated to the effort.
We are so proud to say that we are not only one of the event’s sponsors but also the largest team registered for the event (so far).
Let’s add to those numbers… but hurry! Online registration, for those who’d still like to participate in the 5K Run, the 5K Walk or the Kids’ Fun Run can be completed through 11:59 p.m. July 9.
(After that, the registration fee increases for all categories to $40 and can be completed, by cash or check only, at the packet pick-up from noon to 8 p.m. July 12 at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Palisades Center – or on site beginning at 6:30 a.m. on event day).
If you recall, the ML Faves for Good team made quite the splash last year:
• A team of us – some 80 women and girls of all ages – participated in recognition of both the event’s 30th anniversary and what also happened to be the 30th anniversary of Maria Luisa doing business in Nyack (not to mention the day of Maria’s birthday). And it was a fun day full of camaraderie, exercise and yes, even a bit of competition – all in the name of helping women throughout our county.
• More than 1,000 women registered for the 2017 event, with our ML Faves for Good team the second-largest group of participants – and one that raised more than $2,000. So far, we are over 70 participants for this weekend’s event – and are inching ever closer to our team’s fundraising goal of $2,500
• As you know, the way the ML team came together inspired us to formalize the ML Faves for Good initiative, through which we continue to come together to “do good.”
If you can’t make it to Rockland Lake Saturday – to participate or cheer us on – we ask you to still consider making a donation to our team effort and even ask your friends and family not able to participate to donate, as well, so we can reach our goal.
And as our thank you, those who:

**
Again, many thanks for joining the effort – and see you Saturday!!

INDEPENDENCE DAY COMES EARLY…

If you haven’t heard, Nyack is kicking off its Fourth of July festivities a bit early.
The village’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration is set for this Saturday, June 30, in Memorial Park.
FIREWORKS JUNE 30
The event always draws a big crowd to town, giving the entire day of the fireworks an exciting buzz that we just love.
And why not make a day of it? Hit the town long before the fireworks, stroll the streets, grab a bite…
OPEN TOES
Of course, we’ll be joining in the fun at both Maria Luisa Boutique and ML by Maria Luisa, so we hope you’ll also plan to stop by and say hello.
WHAT TO WEAR? JULY 4th IDEAS
We invite you to check out our summer fashions, accessories, gifts and more – and while you’re here, join us for a complimentary glass of lemonade or iced tea.
We hope you’ll also take advantage of our “summer SALE blast-off” with promotions scattered throughout the shops.
HOSTESS GIFTS
We’re already looking forward to the day – and remember, the fireworks will start at 9 p.m. in Memorial Park, along the Hudson River at the end of Depew Avenue.

WON'T YOU JOIN US?

What are you doing July 14?

We’d like to make a suggestion for a fun – and meaningful way –
to start off that summer day.

We hope you’ll consider joining the ML Faves for Good team as we again
participate in the  Women’s Distance Festival at Rockland Lake State Park
in Congers.
ML Faves for GOOD

The event, which will mark its 31st annual edition this year, will again gather
women of all ages – from girls through seniors – to participate in the run/walk
at the park.

Last year, more than 1,000 registered for the event that celebrates womanhood
and camaraderie while raising funds for the Center for Safety & Change.

With the momentum of Maria Luisa’s own 30th anniversary of doing business
in Nyack, we assembled a team of some 80 women strong, making us the
second-largest team within the 2017 event.

Whether our team members ran or walked, our effort was a bonding experience –
filled with quite a few laughs – as the ML Faves raised more than $2,000.

Registration is now open for this year’s event, and we have set an ambitious goal –
to raise $2,500 or more.

Our participation in the festival was key one for us in another way, as well.

The teamwork sparked the creation of the ML Faves for Good initiative where
we formalized our “habit” of joining together to, yes, do good.

This year, ML Faves for Good kicked things off by participating in
Resolution Fun Run/Walk in Nyack. During this January event, our team
raised more than $2,600 to benefit the Nyack Hunger Coalition.

With such teamwork, we cannot fail – so we hope you’ll join us in another
successful effort by participating in the 31st annual Women’s Distance Festival.

REGISTER NOW and join the ML Faves for GOOD Movement.

And to add a little “incentive,” we’ll help you show off that ML Faves team spirit:

Returning participants who made a contribution last year and sign up as part
of the ML Faves for Good team for this year’s event by April 15, may choose

MariaLuisaBoutique.com
a free ML team T-shirt or water bottle.

• Those new to the ML Faves team who sign up by April 15 and:

Make a $25 WDF ML Faves for Good donation, will receive a free ML team T-shirt.

Make a $75 WDF ML Faves for Good donation, will receive a free ML team T-shirt

    and a water bottle.

DONATE NOW

We really hope you’ll join us this July 14 – participating again or for the first time.
It’s going to be a blast.

Please help our fundraising effort by recruiting your female friends and family
members to also participate.

And please encourage anyone you know to join us “in spirit” by making a contribution
on behalf of the ML Faves for Good team.

Here’s to another strong effort.

It will be fun – but it will also help raise funds for one of our vital community resources,
the Center for Safety and Change.

Now that’s doing something Good!

THE BEAUTY OF 24-7 SHOPPING

How many times have you wanted to run out to shop this winter but decided against it because of the snow, rain, ice or wind?

Maybe you got the urge to splurge at midnight – long after shop doors have closed.
SHOP 24/7 @ SHOPTIQUES and MARIA LUISA

Or perhaps you forgot – or didn’t have time – to run to your favorite shop to buy a gift for someone special.

As we all know, online shopping takes away such “barriers” – and offers some really convenient solutions.

That is why – despite our joy in seeing you in our brick-and-mortar shops – we encourage you to shop with us online.
MariaLuisaBoutique.com

At MARIALUISABOUTIQUE.COM – and more recently, SHOPTIQUES.COM (more on that in a moment), you can find so much of what you love at Maria Luisa Boutique and ML by Maria Luisa with the simple click of the keyboard.

SHOPTIQUES

As you likely know, shopping online at MariaLuisaBoutique.com offers not only convenience but also another way to support us in our community efforts. For each purchase through our website, we have long pledged, through the ML/GL initiative, to donate 10% of each sale to the local community organization that you select upon checking out.
JULIA LACE DRESS

And in recent months, we have also joined SHOPTIQUES.COM, a platform that offers unique products from “the world’s best local boutiques” through one site. Adding to our exposure as a Hudson Valley destination, this opportunity raises our profile and offers more customers the chance to experience the “Maria Luisa look” you’ve come to know and love.

With this efficient way to now ship around the world, we’ve been pleased to already receive orders from savvy shoppers in both England and Finland – here’s to the Maria Luisa name going international!

Scroll through and see what you think of our edited selection of clothing, accessories and gift items.

Either way you do it – rest assured, you can indeed shop in your pajamas and no one will be the wiser!!

HOW WE CHOOSE

When you shop at Maria Luisa Boutique or ML by Maria Luisa, we certainly hope you are delighted with what you find – that you think you’ve found the perfect top, gift or maybe even new chair for your living room.
But we also hope that you get a little more out of your purchase – and that’s value.
We’re not simply talking about paying a good price for what you receive, though we certainly hope that’s what you feel.
We mean you walk out knowing your purchase was one of true value.
We know our loyal customers trust us to bring quality goods into our shops – and we appreciate your trust in us.
Maker Made
We’d just like to share here a bit about what we consider before we bring something into the shops for you to see– it’s certainly not a wishy-washy, knee-jerk reaction, a “Hey, that’s cute.”
For us, what we stock has to have integrity. Those who follow Fair Trade or eco-minded principles in their production processes create much of our merchandise.
We also like to spotlight fellow small businesses, especially those run by women. We love nothing more than giving talented artists or artisans the chance to share their talents and creativity with a wider audience, knowing that growing sales allow them to continue their work, which in turn supports their own families, employees and communities – it’s a lovely cycle we’re a part of, you see.

Fair Trade Options
When Maria Luisa Whittingham, founder and owner, meets with vendors, attends trade shows or travels the world to seek out new merchandise (a trip overseas is coming later this year – details to follow!), she is not going to be swayed by something that’s merely attractive.
She asks probing questions. She knows the answers she needs – and only then, are products brought into the Maria Luisa mix.
It’s a time-consuming process others might be tempted to skip in favor of fast-fashion and the latest trends, but not Maria. And we know that’s not why you choose to shop at Maria Luisa – and for that, we continue to be grateful.
Can’t wait to share what Maria Luisa has in store for 2018; new shipments are always arriving, so be sure to stop by- and always feel free to ask for the story behind our products. We love to share the background of our brands, our products and our selections.

We think that’s what makes us us – and has for 30 years (and counting!).

RUN (OR WALK) with MARIA LUISA

Here at Maria Luisa, we hope your 2018 is off to a good start.
If you’ve resolved to do more this year – for your health, for the community – then you’re in luck.
We have the perfect event that combines both – and will be plenty of fun to boot.
And there’s still plenty of time to join the effort.
As we’ve been mentioning on our social media the past few weeks, we’ve formed a team (ML Faves for GOOD) to participate in the Jan. 6 – that’s this Saturday morningResolution Run Nyack 4-Mile Fun Run/Walk to End Hunger.

We are about to kick off our #MLFavesForGood 2018 efforts with a team participation in the Resolution Run Nyack.
The Nyack Hunger Coalition event will take participants through the streets of Nyack in an event designed as a "fun run/walk" to raise funds to help end the hunger crisis in our own Nyack community.
We'd love if you can participate, running or walking, on event day, Jan. 6, but we'd also be happy to simply have you out there cheering us along - or making a monetary donation in support of the effort. Register in advance to save $5 on the entry; or donate any time.
Maria Luisa Whittingham is striving to raise $1,000 and if the goal is met, will donate an additional $100 to the cause.
We're looking forward to starting off the new year on such a positive note - and thank you in advance for anything you are able to do to help the effort.
Sign up - or donate-> at Resolution Run Nyack.

Here’s a bit of the background:
It was back last summer when we gathered a team some 80 women strong to participate in the 30th annual Women's Distance Festival 5K Walk/Run. The July 8 event at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, a benefit for the Center for Safety & Change, marked not only our 30th anniversary but also the event's 30th anniversary and Maria's own 60th birthday.
The sense of camaraderie, the importance of the cause and the funds raised by the team sparked yet another chapter in the Maria Luisa story - the formation of the  #MLFavesForGood initiative.
Envisioned as a way to capitalize on the spirit of that special day, the initiative is a concrete way to continue efforts to help the local nonprofit community.

Animal Instinct…

Odette
Have you noticed the menagerie filling our shops?
Well, we won’t blame you if you didn’t.
There are no actual live animals… simply animal motifs dotting a number of items on hand.
These range from carved elephant-themed wall hangings to a baby bird landing on a soap wrapper. There’s an intense-looking cat decorating a wallet and a frog-prince holding court in our lower level home department at ML by Maria Luisa.
Take a slow walk around and you’ll see plenty more, including giraffes, zebras… we’ll let you be surprised.
Lots of gift ideas for those animal lovers on your shopping lists.

The road to success

It wouldn’t be a proper celebration without the thank-you note afterwards.
So we just wanted to take a moment to offer our SINCERE THANKS to all of you who supported the #mlfaves team at the 30th Women’s Distance Festival, held July 8 at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers.
It was a special day for the Maria Luisa family – not only was it another way for all of us to offer our continued support for The Center for Safety and Change (accomplished through entry fees plus our own team donation, matched by Maria Luisa) – but it was also a great way to celebrate Maria Luisa Whittingham’s 60th birthday.
That occasion was marked by the Center with a beautiful balloon bouquet, a birthday cake – and of course, a birthday serenade.
The #mlfaves team was some 80-strong – a showing that placed us second-largest in the event’s groups – and our members ran, jogged and strolled their way to completing the 5K-course in a morning filled with camaraderie and good will.
And it proved a memorable turnout – some 1,100 participants overall!! – for a most important cause.
Again, we thank you for your continued support of the causes we believe in!
